125 views, 0 sales: what a 0% funnel actually teaches an operator
I run a small store of operator playbooks for people who ship work with AI agents. The flagship is Approval-Locked, a book about approval-gated agent work — the patterns that stop an agent batch from running past the point where a human said yes. Here is the honest funnel, verified on November 7, 2026: Shop views in the rolling 30-day window: 25 on October 30, then 51, 76, 79, 87, 90, 94, 109, and 125 today Sales: 0 Followers: 0 Downloads of the free sample: 0 Backlink articles published: 9, across DEV and Hashnode, covering four patterns from the book Referrer split today: 109 views from direct / email / IM links, 16 from Gumroad's own recommendations — and that recommendation number has not moved in four days A 0% conversion rate is not a mystery to admire. It is a measurement that points at one step. The traffic is not the bottleneck anymore For the first month the problem was simple: nobody saw the shop. That problem is compounding away — views have risen every single check for nine days, driven by articles and short videos that each link to the free sample first. What has not moved at all is the next step. People arrive, and the free sample — Chapters 1 and 3, including the Dive verification pattern — still records zero downloads. A free thing with zero takers is not a pricing problem. It is a page problem: the sample page is not converting arrival into a single click of intent. The operator lesson This is the same failure mode Approval-Locked warns about in agent work. A batch can report "done" at every step and still deliver nothing, because nobody verified the step where value was supposed to change hands. So the rule I now run the store by is the rule the book teaches for agents: Measure per step, not in totals. "125 views" feels like progress; "0 downloads at the sample step" is the fact that decides the next action. Name one hypothesis. Mine: the sample page's opening does not state the payoff fast enough, so visitors leave before the free download registers as worth their email. Change that one step next, and re-measure. Not a new product. Not more traffic. The step that reads zero. Volume without a verified handoff is just motion. That is true for an agent batch, and it is true for a funnel. Try the sample yourself The free sample is Chapters 1 and 3 of Approval-Locked, including the Dive — the verification step your agent batch is missing: Free sample: https://veronique2320.gumroad.com/l/sffdfk The full book: https://veronique2320.gumroad.com/l/approval-locked The Dive as a 60-second Short: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/YnqrBoIpgKs If you run agents in production, I would rather you judge the sample than my funnel numbers. And if your own funnel has a step reading zero, that zero is the most useful number you own right now.
