A month of daily job-ad counts from Praca pl: the weekly rhythm, and pay transparency inching up

Most job-market figures come out once a month. I have been counting the live ads on Praca pl, one of Poland's national job boards, every morning since 2 October, from its public list pages. With a full month in hand, two things stand out that a monthly number cannot show: the board has a clear weekly rhythm, and the share of ads that state pay has crept up by about a point and a half. The month in one line Live ads peaked at 18,022 on 8 October and ended the month lower: 16,757 on 31 October and 16,206 on 2 November, about 10% below the peak. That fall is spread across the month rather than a single drop. Date Live ads New since previous read Removed Share stating pay 8 Oct 18,022 841 771 17.6% 15 Oct 17,451 803 652 17.7% 22 Oct 16,896 967 1,260 19.0% 29 Oct 16,717 530 351 18.6% 2 Nov 16,206 391 915 18.8% The weekly rhythm The count is taken early each morning (05:00–06:00 Warsaw time), so each read covers roughly the previous day. Averaging the four full weeks from 6 October to 2 November: Read on Covers mostly New ads (avg) Removed (avg) Monday Sunday 347 878 Tuesday Monday 483 356 Wednesday Tuesday 656 357 Thursday Wednesday 785 759 Friday Thursday 926 955 Saturday Friday 844 1,015 Sunday Saturday 618 893 New ads build through the week and peak in the Friday read; removals are lowest early in the week and highest around the weekend. The result is that Monday is the low point for live ads every single week: 16,775 on 12 October, 16,602 on 19 October, 15,875 on 26 October and 16,206 on 2 November. Anyone comparing a Monday figure with a mid-week one will see a "drop" that is just the calendar. Pay transparency is inching up The share of live ads that state a salary was 17.0–18.1% in the first half of October and 18.4–19.1% from 17 October onwards. That is a small move, and one month is not a trend, but it is in the direction the EU Pay Transparency Directive pushes. It is still far from universal: four in five ads say nothing about pay. By voivodeship (20 October vs 2 November, the same table layout on both days): Mazowieckie has the most ads (3,016 on 2 November) and a steady 26.8% stating pay on both dates. Łódzkie rose from 21.1% to 24.2%, Podkarpackie from 12.8% to 16.1%, Świętokrzyskie from 11.6% to 14.4%, Lubelskie from 9.8% to 12.0%. Dolnośląskie fell from 18.3% to 15.9%, Lubuskie from 15.4% to 12.3%. Ads for jobs abroad stand apart: 39.2% state pay, with a median of 11,900 PLN a month. Caveats These are counts of ads on one board's public list pages, not vacancies, and not the whole Polish market. An ad is counted once per town. "New" is an id seen for the first time; "removed" is an id no longer on the list. The pay figures use the advertised monthly amount (lower bound where a range is given), and a median is shown only where at least five ads state pay. Ads that the board does not tie to a voivodeship rose from 645 to 994 between 20 October and 2 November, so some regional falls may be ads without a location rather than ads that went away. 3 and 4 October are missing; the 5 October read therefore covers three days. Getting the data The daily aggregates (live, new and removed ads, ads stating pay and median pay, by voivodeship and category) are free on Hugging Face at huggingface.co/datasets/listingworks, and the collector that produces them runs on Apify. I will keep the series going and write again when there are two months to compare.
