Germany’s far-right AfD wins big in key state election but falls short of majority

Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party headed towards a landslide victory in state ​elections in Saxony-Anhalt on Sunday in its bid to form the country's first far-right state government since World War II. However, final results showed AfD falling three seats short of an absolute majority, with 39 lawmakers in an 83-member parliament.
