The President is Coping Well
The WSJ, “Trump Signs Proclamation He Says Will Protect Oval Office From Major Changes”: President Trump signed a proclamation Thursday that he said would designate the White House’s Oval Office and Cabinet Room as landmarks to prevent future presidents from making major changes to them. “They won’t be able to be taken down, destroyed, touched or anything else,” Trump told reporters. “It’s called, actually, a national monument. It’s a federal landmark, and when completed and when we get the documentation fully done, legally binding, it’ll make it impossible for anybody ever to destroy this incredible space.” Oh, buddy, every last bit of that pyrite cack will be pried off the walls and in a dumpster by mid-morning on 20 January 2029. You know that scene in Pulp Fiction where John Travolta’s Vincent Vega tells his drug dealer (Eric Stoltz) about his vintage Chevy Malibu getting keyed? “Boy I wish I could’ve caught him doing it. I’d have given anything to catch that asshole doing it. It would have been worth him doing it, just so I could’ve caught him. What’s more chickenshit than fucking with a man’s automobile?” I sort of feel that way about Trump and the next two years. ★
