Virulent wildfires raze entire neighbourhoods in Washington state

At least 600 buildings have been destroyed in wildfires in the US state of Washington. One of 15 fires currently burning tore through the state's second-largest city Spokane. A number of unfavourable weather conditions have made this summer's fire season in the state particularly strong, with over 1,000 square kilometres burned through.
