Xbox had much bigger plans for Halo 2 and 3 remakes before layoffs canceled them

Halo Studios reportedly explored ambitious plans for Halo 2 and Halo 3 remakes under “Project Manihi,” with surveys asking community members about multiplayer, Forge, Firefight, Theater, dual wielding, bonus missions, and more. The reported projects were being considered alongside a new mainline Halo game before layoffs changed the studio’s plans.
